The GFS Virtual Gallery opened in 2011 and changes monthly, reflecting a new theme starting the first of each month. It is intended to provide an ever-changing way to reach new audiences by making it easy for people to view high-quality work simply by going to their computers, where they can experience art “Made in Great Falls” with a couple of keystrokes. The Virtual Gallery is the MOST popular page on the Great Falls Studios website (the Curator said modestly) and is a great way to present your art to a wide audience without ever having to leave the comfort of your studio or even comb your hair and, best of all, it is FREE.

To Enter: Submit up to 5 digital images of your work to Mike McDermott at mike@mcmimagery.com

Images should be 750 pixels on the longest side and in .jpg format at the highest quality setting. By way of example, that would be 10.4 inches at 72 pixels per inch or 2.5 inches at 300 pixels per inch. For MAC users, check the box in the upper right corner and make sure Image Size: is set to Actual Size when you send the images. You can always contact me for help with this (but do not wait until the last minute, please).

Include the following information for each image:

Artist:
Title:
Medium:
Dimensions:
Year Completed:
Description: (several words up to a line).
Deadline: Check the latest Visually Speaking

Each member of Great Falls Studios can have their own individual page on the Great Falls Studios website. E-mail all of your pictures and information for your page to membership@greatfallsstudios.com

Include your full name and your medium. You can also choose to include a link to your e-mail, website, or blog aw well as any social media links. In addition, include an “artist’s bio” and up to 5 images of your artwork (captions are optional).

Image sizes can be the same as you would submit for the virtual gallery, at least 750 pixels on the longest side in jpg format. You can send in a larger image if you’d like, but nothing smaller.

Go to the website www.picresize.com

Click on the Browse button and select the image file you want to resize from your computer. Then click Continue.

On the next page you will only need to change a few settings (the example below will resize an image to equal 750 pixels on the longest side).

On section 2 "Resize My Picture" you will select "Custom Size" from the dropdown menu next to Make my picture (by default it will say 50% smaller)

In the field underneath that, type in 750 pixels for width, if your image is a horizontal, or 750 for height, if it's a vertical.

On section 4 "Save As" you will select JPG next to image format and Best next to JPG Quality.

Next click, I'm Done, Resize My Picture

In the image below, the areas that need to be changed are indicated with a red arrow

On the following page you will click on "Save to Disk", and your resized image will appear in your computer's downloads folder.

If you have uploaded an image that is smaller than 750 pixels on the longest side then you will receive an error message that says "Sorry, the width you entered cannot be greater than the original width. Try Again"

This means you have to start over and upload a larger image file.
