Kay Walsh quietly dances through everyday life with creative energy that tempts to think in the abstract...no barriers, no limitations inspire use of color and endless mark-making possibilities.

An in-depth fascination with painting began in college and developed a career as a Graphic Designer. Combining unusual ideas to develop concepts with various materials and techniques has always been intuitive. Mark-making, layering, pictorial depth, and at times collage, are tools that have fascinated me to create an abstract narrative with the viewer to engage and enable a personal connection. My work can be seen as geometric while being influenced by techniques of abstract expressionism. A constant abstract exploration and investigation, with curiosity and humor serve as the foundation for my work...allowing for imagination and inspiration to thrive. Physical energy always lies beneath the surface waiting...just waiting to emerge on paper, canvas or wood to express emotions through color, graphic shapes, and strong gestures. I am currently painting in a group studio, ArtBlitz, located in Sterling,Virginia and at my home in Great Falls. My artwork has been shown in the Metroplitan Washington area including The Art League, Alexandria, Touchstone Gallery, Mclean Community Center, The Martha Spak Gallery, Wasington, D.C., Great Falls, Studio Tour and Holiday shows, galleries in Reston, Leesburg, Glennview Mansion, Bethesda, and the Mosaic District. I have studied at the Corcoran, George Washington University, The Art League, and MOMA with a BA from California State University.

Much of my artwork is larger format (36”x36”, 30”x40” an 36”x48”) geometric and/or floral acrylic paintings on canvas. I will also feature some smaller matt board paper work and will have greeting cards as well.

I will be displaying my art at the Village Green Day School in Great Falls, VA.
