My work begins with curiosity about how fire, surface, and material interact. In my studio, I create one-of-a-kind stoneware jewelry, raku pieces, and functional forms that range from everyday use to purely decorative work. I primarily work with stoneware, combining wheel throwing and hand building. Alongside functional pottery (often with a twist, such as ceramic earrings), I enjoy working with alternative firing methods including raku, saggar, and pit firing. These processes introduce variation, surface marking, and atmospheric effects that cannot be fully controlled, making each piece distinct. I also regularly test new glaze combinations and firing adjustments, which keep me eager to see the results that emerge from the kiln. Living near Great Falls, I draw inspiration from natural textures and patterns, which influence both form and finish. My work is for those who appreciate handmade objects, whether functional or decorative, and the fun results that emerge when both process and unpredictability shape the final piece.
