I graduated from the Corcoran College of Art and Design in 2001. Some ways I create: painting, mixed media, printmaking, sculpture, photography and video. I make art using different tools. I start with an idea, such as: meditation, how we present ourselves to the world in comparison with what's going on under the surface, the joy of flowers, the wonders of the unknown, etc. As I work, the focus turns to what's emerging in the piece, and I work with that, adding and subtracting as I go. For collages I cover a board with stickers from food, junk mail, etc., and use brushes, palette knives, rags, old hair brushes, fingers, etc., to apply the media to the piece. The underlying collage provides texture and history. I do weavings out of found ribbon, string, etc., and usually paint over them. I also just paint. Ideally, my art will inspire, delight, challenge, or bring an opening of awareness to those who see it. I just share it with people. How they see is theirs. It's a privilege to make art, and I'm grateful to be able to do it. I encourage all to express and share their unique vision through creativity.Member of various art groups, including Great Falls Studios (since its founding), Reston Art League, Art4Us.

I've been making art most of my life. Art is the result of a need to explore, express and share what we have to give as creators of art. An artist creates something out of her experiences, expertise, emotions, insights, knowledge and imagination. She has the urge to share her unique take on our human experience.

I make art to communicate with and discover my inner self and the outside world. Sometimes I work to express visually that which is not necessarily seen - a good challenge. Each piece begins with a thought, feeling, concept, or just a color or shape I'd like to develop. Making art is an exploration. I may start with one vision, but the second I start to work/play, it evolves into something else. I let the moment, the materials, and new ideas guide me. Spontaneity and experimentation are key to the process.

I work in different mediums, such as printmaking, oil, acrylic, collage, mixed media, weaving, sculpture, photography, and video. I sometimes repurpose found objects which add history and their own story to the piece. My work is colorful and ranges from representational to total abstraction.
