Robert Gilbert is a fine arts painter living in Great Falls, VA. He is a member of Falls Church Artists, Art League of Alexandria and the Great Falls Studios, a consortium of over 100 artists who live in Great Falls. He started his painting career over 50 years ago painting perspectives for Seattle architects. After an Air Force career and then a second career as an architect and corporate real estate executive he started taking plein-air watercolor lessons in 2002. At the recommendation of his mentor, Howard Behrens, consider the world’s premier palette knife painter, Robert switched to oils in 2006. His subjects include portraits, landscapes, seascapes and cityscapes. His work has been featured in numerous galleries and museums as well as the national “Professional Artist” and regional magazines “Elan” and “Viva Tysons”. He teaches both oil and watercolor.
