Meredith Ledford currently resides in Great Falls, Virginia although she is a native of Birmingham, Alabama. She has traveled extensively with her husband and two children, including living in Japan from 1996 – 1998. For her, painting and drawing are a creative release and never ending passion.
Much of her inspiration comes from her love of music, the human figure, emotions, her passion for spiritual awareness, and her travels. She says, “When I paint, I always pick a subject that inspires me at the moment. I search for the hidden meaning behind that inspiration. Every piece comes out different and unique! An individual expression comes from the heart. It is a very spiritual experience. It almost feels like a cleansing of the mind and heart. It brings freedom.”
Meredith has studied under Annie Krammerer Butrus of the Birmingham Museum of Art, Charles Johnson, Guita Vafai, Robert Vander-Zee, Beverly Ryan and Danni Dawson of the Art League School in Alexandria, VA. She studied briefly at George Mason University as an Art Studio Major. She participated as a Bin Gallery Artist at The Art League in Alexandria, Virginia for two years and has many pieces in private collections across the North and Southeast. She is a member of The Art League at the Torpedo Factory, Arlington Arts Center, and Great Falls Studios in Great Falls, VA. She also enjoys serving on the board of the Great Falls Elementary School Art Enrichment Program.
