Benjamin Cheshire

Painter, Pastel, Graphite, and Oil

I have been a painter for over 30 years. I graduated from Old Dominion University in 1984 with a Fine Arts Degree. I became a successful illustrator shortly thereafter in the Washington D.C. metro area for over ten years. I specialized in architectural renderings and technical illustrations with the airbrush.  In 1996 I left the field of commercial art in favor of teaching art in the Elementary Schools, as well as coordinating the Art in the Schools program in two schools until 2004.
I have for the last several years focused my talents on painting wildlife in their natural environment.  I avoid creating “cute” animals as I believe they have their own beauty and do not need to be “humanized.” I try to work from my own observations and photos when ever possible.  The truth is sometimes more fascinating than fiction, please see “Confrontation.”
